Are You Thinking Too Small?

Most of the clients I mentor come to me for fat loss. And that’s one reason why I love fat (the cellulite kind!) so much… it spurs us to a state of healthy discontent in which we are open to options and ready for a change. By the time my gorgeous ladies (and handsome gents) find me, they’ve tried several different diets or exercise routines unsuccessfully, and are through trying to do it on their own.

But I insist my clients and new acquaintances are thinking too small with fat loss goals. Sure, fat loss has its benefits, like boosting our confidence, but to what end?

Fat loss is just one piece of the much bigger spectrum of vitality. When we focus on one piece – fat loss – instead of the bigger whole – vitality – we end up with temporary results. A crash diet might work for a little while, but once it’s over, the fat returns in full force. Or counting calories will cause most people to lose weight, but it’s usually muscle too, without necessarily shedding any fat.

Vitality encompasses vibrant health, a supportive lifestyle, a positive mindset, an adventurous spirit, and personal growth. Yep, it’s big and comprehensive and takes the ‘whole’ of you into account, not just pieces and parts. In this context, gaining fat is simply a sign of diminished vitality and a signal that it’s time to change.

In western society, fat gain is usually what it takes to “wake people up.” Can you relate? Neither insulin resistance, diabetes, high cholesterol, or depression provide such a strong stimulus as gaining fat. So in this sense, I’m grateful that something gets to people! 🙂

I see something bigger! I see opportunity and possibility in your desire to lose fat. As one of my favorite speakers, Brendon Burchard, says, “The world is brimming with possibility.” The question is: What will you do with it?

I’ve made it my mission in life to help you get healthy to transform the world. And I know that enhancing vitality is the solution, not simply losing fat. When you get healthy, your body will reward you by letting go of excess fat and functioning optimally. You’ll get sick less often, your energy will soar, and your productivity and performance will level-up exponentially. This allows you to bless the world with your gifts, your story, your love, and your service.

When you feel your best everyday, life tastes sweet. And you are empowered to live out your purpose. It’s amazing what transformation a shift in perspective will provide to motivation and inspiration in your journey.

Your Get Healthy Assignment:

I challenge and encourage you to think bigger in your vitality journey. Don’t limit yourself to fat loss, but really think through the possibilities. How will your transformation affect your family in positive ways? What adventures will you be able to take?

  1. Grab a pen and paper
  2. How will enhanced vitality benefit your life? What will you do with it? How will you share it? Write down the first 6-10 things that come to mind & don’t think about what you should answer – there are no right or wrongs! This is about YOU! Write down YOUR desires.
  3. Look over your list and imagine what each item will look like, feel like, taste like, smell like. Really create the experience in your mind (Taking the time for THIS step alone will progress you faster towards your goals).
  4. Put it in a safe place and look at it often. Live your vision into reality!
